Taylor's Story

On November 16th, 2006 Taylor was involved in a terrible automobile accident shortly after being picked up from school.  Taylor is a kindergartner at Emma Wilson School in Chico, CA.  Thanks to the quick thinking of EMT Russ Weaver of Chico, Taylor is still with us today.  Taylor was initially treated at Enloe Medical center in Chico before she was life flighted to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, CA.  Upon arrival at UC Davis Medical Center her injuries were learned to be much more serious than originally anticipated.  Taylor had damaged her spinal cord at the C1 and C2 vertebrae.  Fortunately there was no indication of any damage to the brain that is typical in this type of injury.  Taylor is currently using the assistance of a ventilator for breathing and has no feeling or motion below her collarbone.  Taylor's family is with her everyday and continues to help her work towards recovery.
