HIGHWAY 20 BAND

The Highway 20 Band is a high energy country-southern rock band from Colusa County.  The guitarists are all wireless performers which allows them to get out on the dance floor with you and keep everyone dancing and having fun!

Both the music and their presentation will keep you entertained throughout the event.  With ripping guitar solos, powerful vocals and their own original songs you will be in for a treat at any of their performances.

Only a few months after being together, The Highway 20 Band performed at their first gig and were astounded by the audience reaction.  Since then they have been adding more performance dates and new songs of their own and other artists.  Keep your eyes on this band as they have a bright future.  Check out the guest book and see what their fans have said about them.

KELLIE STROUD

Raised in Colusa, Kellie discovered at a very young age she had a passion for music and singing.  She credits her father, David, for her natural talent as she has countless memories of him singing old mo-town hits like Sam Cook and other greats.  Along with her father, Kellie's musical influences have been artist's such as Stevie Nicks, Dolly Parton, Carole King, The Eagles and James Taylor to name a few.  Although it was not until later in life that Kellie finally had an opportunity to share her voice with larger audiences, she was happy for any chance to perform.  Most of her work prior to Highway 20 Band included singing at private parties and weddings.  She also continues to work on her other passion, song writing.

Kellie was very excited about the opportunity to round out the cast of characters now known as the Highway 20 Band.  The band's country-southern rock sound mixes well with her vocal range and tambourine shaking!

DJ MATHIS

DJ was born in Colusa and raised in Maxwell. He took a few guitar lessons at around 10 years old and learned everything else on his own. He is self taught on the piano as well. He has always loved music and his influences include the Beatles, the Eagles, Jim Croce, CCR, Bryan Adams, Journey, Keith Urban and Neal Schon.

His first band was called ‘On The Rocks’ when he lived in Los Angeles back in 1987. He is currently in another band called ‘F.B.R.’ and he has been playing with them for over 10 years. He has played hundreds of gigs all over California and even a few up in Oregon.

He loves what Highway 20 is doing. They are working hard and DJ feels there is a lot of talent and potential in the Highway 20 Band. Even though DJ may look very serious on stage he is having fun! Besides music, he is a sports nut - Anaheim Angels, St. Louis Rams, and the Sacramento Kings. Oh yes - Coors Light if you are buying!!

GENE MCKASSON

Gene was born and raised in Colusa.  He was heavily influenced by his father, Dan, who sang and played the guitar. Also his mother Joyce who sang since Gene could remember.  At the age of 9 he picked up his father's guitar while staying home sick from school one day.  He taught himself to play.  Gene and his best friend Chuck Comfort started playing together in Chuck's garage and formed their first band "Rampage".  This band didn't go far but was a building block for many different bands to come.  In the US Air Force Gene played Bass guitar in a rock band named "Outta Control". Gene has followed his musical ambition  throughout the years playing for weddings, private parties, on bar stools and next to many camp fires.

Around January of 2005, Gene got the music bug again and decided to try to put together another band.  With limited number of musicians in the Colusa area, he knew he had his work cut out for him.  With a little hard work and determination, Highway 20 was born.

When he can find the time, Gene likes to Abalone dive, fish, fly R/C airplanes and is a die hard Oakland Raider fan.  His musical influences include Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, Travis Tritt, Clint Black, The Eagles, Alan Jackson, James Taylor, KISS and many more.

Scott Langdon

Scott Langdon resides in Chico. Scott has been playing drums all his life and is a drumming instructor as well.
